Bethany Primary  

Bethany Primary is no longer in use as a Brooke County School. The Brooke Board of Education voted to shut down two schools in the county in order to save money. Children are now taken by bus to Wellsburg Primary.

The facility was taken over by Bethany College and is used by the Education Department. There is child care available under the new management.

Wellsburg Middle

     Wellsburg Middle is located in downtown Wellsburg near the Ohio river.  Transportation is provided for children to Wellsburg Middle and Brooke High School.

Pre-schools and
Alternatives to Public Education

Brooke High School provides a program for pre-school children.  They have an alternate day, all year program.  A child must be 4 yrs old by August 31st the year they enroll. Only 80 students can participate during the entire school year.  Linda Abercrombie is the teacher, and interested parents can call Brooke High School at (304) 527-1410, Ext. 77.

At Franklin United Methodist Church, [(304) 737-1656], 1231 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, WV 26070 they have the Franklin Pre-School. A child must be at least 3 1/2 yrs old or older to attend. They have a session in the morning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (9:00 to12 Noon). Class size limit is 16.. For further information call Sherry McCausland at (304) 737-2496.

Another pre-school is situated at The First Church of Christ in Follansbee, WV 26037. Kids Korner For Christian Education, A Developmental Preschool Program is for children ages 3-5 years old. Kids Korner pre-school meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the children ages 4 and 5. The program for the 3 year olds is scheduled on Tuesday and Thursdays depending upon enrollment. This program exists as a ministry of the First Church of Christ at the corner of Penn & Neville Streets in Follansbee. Also St. John's in Wellsburg (304-737-0511) currently has pre-secondary school. They welcome new children.
